Saturday (April 25th), and Sunday (April 26th) in the art building at Brookhaven Community College in Farmers Branch, TX. The 3-Day class will have a total of 10 limited slots avaiable. During each class, the student will focus on making his or her project based on Douglas's instructions. A current NTxBA membership is required to take the class.
The class will cost $450 which will include the materials for the project. Metalworking tools will be loaned out and will be availble for purchase after the classes. The pitch bowl and pitch will not be provided since several people already have their own. If you are needing a pitch bowl and pitch, we can direct you to where you can get your own or make arrangements to help you get them.
If someone under the age of 18 wishes to participate in the hammer class, a parent or guardian must be present to supervise and also be a member of the NTxBA (for insurance reasons). About Douglas Pryor:
I am a raising and chasing artist using chisels to sculpt metal. My particular focus is exploring and pushing the natural boundaries of what a single unbroken piece of material can create. I want to make things the world has not seen in a long time, using recognizably traditional human powered techniques. Traditions are only as healthy as the people who keep them alive, and that is the journey I want to share. I want to share the collective effort of breathing new life into these human metal working techniques.
Thank you for being a part of this journey, and thank you for adding your momentum to the art that has changed my life.
